Join us on Wednesday, January 23rd to toast aquarium staff for their efforts during Superstorm Sandy; hear how you can help with the recovery of one of WCS’s world-class wildlife parks; and learn how the New York Aquarium plays a vital role in the Brooklyn community and in WCS’s global conservation efforts, including in the New York Bight from Montauk to Cape May!
The damage at the New York Aquarium caused by Hurricane Sandy was severe. The grounds were inundated with a saltwater surge from the Atlantic Ocean, leaving much of the facility under six feet of seawater and causing extensive damage to aquatic life-support systems, electrical systems, and to several buildings. Our staff provided care and comfort for the animals throughout the storm and their dedication remains as strong as ever. We hope you will join us as we work to reopen the aquarium as soon as possible.
