From City Running Tours:
Runners and Beer Lovers Unite! Nearly two years ago, City Running Tours brought its first Beer Run to the Brooklyn Brewery. It was a small group of friends and family that we took on a five mile running tour of Williamsburg and finished at the Brooklyn Brewery for a tour of the iconic brewery and a taste of its delicious drafts. After all, it’s a well known and widely accepted fact that beer is an ideal recovery drink after a long run.
Yet when we took that first Beer Run group out, we had no way of knowing our Beer Run would attract hundreds of runners from all over New York, America and the rest of the World. As the Brewery has grown and expanded over the last two years, so too as our Beer Run, and what started with runners from just the five boroughs now attracts runners from as far away as Brazil, Norway and Japan.
So City Running Tours is throwing a birthday party for our Beer Run and everyone is invited, and we mean everyone. If you’ve never joined us before, now is the time. On November 12, 2011, we’ll meet at the Brewery to set out on a five mile tour through Williamsburg and Greenpoint, before returning back to the Brewery for their free tour of the facilities and an afternoon of sampling their famous brews.
Of course a party wouldn’t be a party without a few presents. So on this Beer Run, you’ll get two beer tokens for the price of one run (and those beers will taste even better knowing you can drink them guilt-free). You’ll also get one of our exclusive City Running Tours/Brooklyn Brewery beer koozies, and other running/BK-related items in your goody bag. As always you’ll get the energy of a Saturday afternoon crowd at the Brewery – always a good time.
+ Check-in opens at 11:15am; the run begins at 11:45am
+ $30 registration includes: a five mile running tour through Williamsburg and Greenpoint, a bottle of water, two beer tokens at the Brewery, a custom beer koozie, and goody bag
+ The tour is approximately five miles long. Multiple guides will be on hand to lead runners on the tour. The run is conducted at a slow to moderate pace, but can be customized to accommodate any pace runner. The tours typically average from 9:00 minutes to 12:00 minutes per mile, with three to four stops along the route.
