Long Island City–a place we like to affectionally call the Alaska of Brooklyn–is a perfect neighborhood for a day trip and an excellent place to bar and brunch hop during our Total Long Island City Immersion with Brooklyn Brewery on July 13.
Like all of our immersions, you’ll need to pick up one of our 500 FREE Immersion cards at either Alewife or LIC Bar starting at noon. Once you have the card in hand you can flash it for complimentary brews at LIC Bar, Dominie’s Hoek, Alewife and Corner Bistro, as well as complimentary glasses of Local 1, Local 2 or Sorachi Ace over brunch at Alobar and Manducatis Rustica.
In between brews, there are plenty of pitstops you’ll want to make. The world epicenter of graffiti at 5Pointz Aerosol Art Center, the Warm Up dance parties at PS 1, and Socrates Sculpture Park are just a few of the cultural offerings in LIC, and this year marks the debut of the LIC Flea, so you can get your food truck fix and shopping on, too. There, you can get $1 off Oaxaca Tacos with your card (and more specials to come).
We’ll also lead the most adventurous Immersion goers on a scavenger hunt of sorts printed on the back of our cards. Those who complete at least one of our challenges, with pictures to prove it, will win fame, glory and even a prize to boot.
After the immersion, we’ll have a special comedy show at The Creek and The Cave with Michael Che and more, a free show made possible by supporting sponsor ENIGMA, an outdoor theatrical adventure debuting this summer.
