War Correspondents @ The Brooklyn Brewery

WCS_Dec 4_crop

For our last War Correspondents event of the year, we thought we’d let Brooklyn Brewery’s friendly neighbors across the street at VICE take over. Editor-in-Chief Rocco Castoro chose photojournalist Ashley Gilbertson as his interview subject, and they take the stage on December 4.

Gilbertson’s 2007 book of photos from Iraq is aptly named “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” – military longhand for WTF. His coverage of the Iraq war earned him the Robert Capa Gold Medal, and he won a National Magazine Award for a series of haunting images depicting the empty bedrooms of soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Gilbertson’s work is also currently on display at the Brooklyn Museum’s “WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY” show.

Join us for another great evening of war stories and Brooklyn beer. Remember, your ticket purchases for this series help us to train and equip more war correspondents to stay safe while working in these dangerous areas, so that they can come back and share their stories with us.

Ticket includes admission and a free Brooklyn Brewery beer. All proceeds from the events in this series benefit RISC (Reporters Instructed in Saving Colleagues).
