Events At This Venue
Debaser and Brooklyn Brewery have joined forces to produce the world’s first all-Brooklyn music festival in Sweden. Why Sweden? Well, besides the fact that the Swedes love them some good beer, they also share our appreciation (and production) of music, food, design and a multitude of other cultural facets we think makes life worth living. Our likes, it would seem, are their likes.
Doing business over the years in Sweden, we’ve gotten to know the folks at Debaser (sort of like the Bowery Presents of Stockholm) and met up stateside one late night during this year’s SxSW festival in Texas. Coming up with Brooklyn bands we both liked was easy. Whittling that list down to a final lineup proved to be more challenging but after the dust of negotiations, schedule conflicts, etc. settled we put together a stellar lineup. To wit:
Pretty great! As any subscriber to Brooklyn Bloggery’s RSS feed can tell you, this is not Brooklyn Brewery’s first foray into the promotion of Brooklyn bands. We’ve been co-producing the Local X Local concert series with our next-door neighbor Brooklyn Bowl for the last two years not to mention our sponsorship of Pool Parties, W’burg Waterfront concerts and the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival.
But that was then. This is now. So how will it work? Where does this happen? Since we want to hit the cool, little town of Malmö in addition to Stockholm, things get a little tricky. Half the groups will play in Malmö and half in Stockholm on 8/31, then swap places to play the following day in the opposite city. Get it? Tickets for this two-day event cost 595:- SEK (about $85) and can be bought from www.tickster.se. Buy tickets for Malmö here, and Stockholm here.
