Red Sumac Wit

In ancient times, the treasure values of ships were often largely made up not by precious metals or gems, but spices. Among the most prized was sumac, picked for its antioxidant-rich red berries. The berries were used medicinally in salves and tonic-like teas, and brought their lemony tang to many foods and even smoking tobacco blends.

For Brooklyn Red Sumac Wit, our friend Lior Lev Sercarz, the famed spice blender, brought us the world’s finest sumac all the way from Turkey. The tart spice replaces the coriander most often used in Belgian wheat beers and joins barley malt and raw wheat to create a zingy and refreshing libation. Red Sumac Wit is unparalleled with your favorite warm weather foods, from hummus and salads to fish tacos and grilled meats to all sorts of spicy dishes.
