EVENT PRODUCER (BROOKLYN, NYC)

The Brooklyn Brewery is looking for an experienced event producer to lead The 2017 Brooklyn Brewery Mash tour. The Mash, a 2-day interactive beer festival, held in 5 major US cities over the course of the year requires a seasoned veteran, used to booking venues, casting talent, managing temp staff and staying on budget. A love of Brooklyn, beer, food, music and culture are a must.

In addition to The Mash this job requires work on but not exclusive to national events such as Savor, the Great American Beer Festival, the Craft Brewers Conference and SxSW.

The job begins in January, 2017 and reports to the Marketing Director.

DUTIES:
+ Execute The Mash tour in 5 US cities
+ Work closely with Brooklyn Brewery’s reps, distributors and customers
+ Work with the Marketing Unit to create new programming & identify production partners
+ Manage the Events Coordinator
+ Maintain and manage partner relationships
+ On-site management during each event
+ Deliver reports & recaps following each event
+ Ability to travel extensively throughout the year
+ Take lead on other major national events
+ Manage budgets for events programming

REQUIREMENTS:
+ 3 years of event production experience
+ Strong leadership and organizational skills
+ Wide knowledge of the food and beverage industry
+ Passion for beer and food
+ A solid understanding of the independent entertainment, arts and culture of Brooklyn
+ Appreciation for the Brooklyn brand and its place in the industry
+ Ability to maintain a budget
+ Good arts, food & bev contacts and relationships
+ Ability to generate original event concepts

PLANT ENGINEER (BROOKLYN, NY)

The Brooklyn Brewery is seeking an experienced, self-motivated engineer that is both hands-on and exceptionally well organized. This individual must be a good team player and have good communication skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help establish organizational platform to assign and monitor preventative maintenance measures
  • Develop and manage maintenance schedules and coordinate staff of 2 maintenance engineers
  • Learn plant processes and operation of all equipment
  • Draft and maintain plant wide piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Maintain process control system (based on Siemens Step 7 platform) including software, hardware systems and coordinate system changes or repairs with our controls engineering partners
  • Establish relationships with equipment manufacturers and service technicians to assist in commissioning, training, and maintaining production equipment
  • Assist in drafting and coordinating plans for installation crews

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent college degree in Engineering
  • 2-3 years minimum experience in a production environment preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of process control systems based on Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms preferred
  • Skills and experience with Auto CAD preferred  
  • Attention to detail, strong organization skills, good communication
  • Understanding of the brewing process and packaging processes preferred
  • Ability to operate machinery, lifts, fork trucks and work with tools
  • Ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects and tools. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. JEJU BREWING CO. LAB SPECIALIST (JEJU, SOUTH KOREA)

Jeju Brewing Co. is seeking a Lab Specialist to support the brewery production team with the necessary resources for making the highest quality and most consistent beer possible.

Broad Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring every stage of the production process using analytical chemistry, microbiology and sensory analyses with the ultimate purpose of maintaining high standards for quality and consistency
  • Generating real-time data from every batch of beer produced and using it to evaluate quality and consistency
  • Using a solid working knowledge in beer production to help troubleshoot quality and general production issues alike
  • Ensuring every batch of beer brewed meets legal requirements (ABV and otherwise)
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory of all lab supplies

Specific Responsibilities:

Analytical Chemistry

  • Analyzing wort, in-process beer and finished beer for density (P), bitterness (BUs), color (EBC), alcohol (ABV),  apparent extract, original extract, real degree of fermentation  and evaluating against predetermined brand specs
  • Taking samples of beer throughout process
  • Maintaining clean and working instrumentation and lab equipment

Microbiology

  • Analyzing pitching yeast, wort, in-process beer and finished beer for microbiological stability
  • Propagating all production yeast from lab to plant phase
  • Making microbiological media to be used in daily testing
  • Reading plates and other media for growth
  • Diagnosing microbiological issues and evaluating risk
  • Sampling throughout the brewery
  • Using proper aseptic technique
  • Cell counting
  • Sterilizing equipment for other parts of production

Sensory

  • Supporting the production team in evaluating in process and finished beer for overall quality and trueness to brand
  • Training staff to properly evaluate beer and setting up regular tastings to evaluate quality

Qualification Requirements:

  • Applicants required to have B.S. degree or equivalent in scientific field applicable to brewing science e.g. microbiology, chemistry, food science
  • Experience working in laboratory setting (brewing science laboratory experience strongly preferred)
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

  • Ability to work on feet for most of the day

HR ASSISTANT (BROOKLYN, NYC)

The Brooklyn Brewery is seeking a Human Resources Assistant. The position is FLSA non-exempt, hourly, and reports to the Human Resources Manager. The HR Assistant will provide support to the Human Resources Manager in developing, executing and managing all HR programs. The HR Assistant will ensure that all forms, transactions and activities are handled in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with established procedures. The HR Assistant will research and resolve employee inquiries and bring issues to a timely resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Event Ambassador Program management: onboard new hires, maintain online timekeeping portal, update and maintain personnel tracker, train new EAs and managers on timekeeping system, troubleshoot login issues
  • Assist with the new hire onboarding process: Schedule calls with new hires to go over company  benefits, assist with new hire paperwork and field general new hire questions, create new employee personnel files, complete and maintain I-9 forms
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned: maintain and conduct with routine personnel file audits, assist with open enrollment for 401K, medical and dental, etc., and assist with ad-hoc projects
  • Payroll assistance: collect and compile hours worked for payroll processing, review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets
  • Assist with the employee off-boarding process

EVENT AMBASSADOR (MULTIPLE TERRITORIES)

The Brooklyn Brewery is seeking an affable, outgoing beer enthusiast to represent our brand at a variety of events in and around multiple beer-centric regions worldwide. This part-time job is responsible for executing a variety of promotional events in bars, restaurants and stores. Promoting Brooklyn Brewery as a spokesperson for our beers and forging relationships on The Brewery's behalf are all primary obligations.

The right candidate will already be a member of the nightlife scene of their home market, with existing relationships that can help position the Brooklyn brand. A familiarity with food trends, contemporary music, film, comedy, and local culture are big plusses.

Responsibilities include:

Coordination between sales reps, venue, and headquarters
Event set-up and tear-down
Capturing and processing newsletter signups
Social media
Engaging with consumers in an easy and fun manner in order to raise brand awareness
Creating new contacts

Event Ambassadors will represent The Brewery on average four times a month.
