LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (BROOKLYN, NYC)

The Brooklyn Brewery is looking for a Laboratory Technician to work in their Williamsburg, Brooklyn Quality Assurance Lab. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for the collection and testing of routine quality samples as well as the analysis of subsequent results and quality troubleshooting. 

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintaining a clean laboratory environment
  • Maintaining clean and working instrumentation
  • Collection of production samples for lab analysis
  • Preparation of samples for testing
  • Carrying out daily, routine tests using provided SOPs and methods of analysis
  • Analyzing resulting data
  • Troubleshooting quality issues alongside Lab Manager
  • Making microbiological media
  • Creating and maintaining good records of daily lab work

Desired Skills and Experience (not limited to):

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study e.g. microbiology, chemistry, food science

PLANT ENGINEER (BROOKLYN, NY)

The Brooklyn Brewery is seeking an experienced, self-motivated engineer that is both hands-on and exceptionally well organized. This individual must be a good team player and have good communication skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help establish organizational platform to assign and monitor preventative maintenance measures
  • Develop and manage maintenance schedules and coordinate staff of 2 maintenance engineers
  • Learn plant processes and operation of all equipment
  • Draft and maintain plant wide piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Maintain process control system (based on Siemens Step 7 platform) including software, hardware systems and coordinate system changes or repairs with our controls engineering partners
  • Establish relationships with equipment manufacturers and service technicians to assist in commissioning, training, and maintaining production equipment
  • Assist in drafting and coordinating plans for installation crews

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent college degree in Engineering
  • 2-3 years minimum experience in a production environment preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of process control systems based on Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms preferred
  • Skills and experience with Auto CAD preferred  
  • Attention to detail, strong organization skills, good communication
  • Understanding of the brewing process and packaging processes preferred
  • Ability to operate machinery, lifts, fork trucks and work with tools
  • Ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects and tools. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision.

SALES REPRESENTATIVE (CENTRAL & NORTHERN NJ)

The Brooklyn Brewery is seeking an intrepid Sales Representative to increase the availability, visibility, velocity, and volume of Brooklyn Brewery beers via making sales calls on retail accounts and educating distributor sales teams and consumers in Central and Northern New Jersey.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

Account Management- 100% of activity

The Sales & Marketing Representative acts as the primary face of the Brewery in the assigned territory.

  • Territory Planning and Management: Develops, with the Region Manager, a territory management structure that ensures that markets, distributors, accounts, and consumers are touched with the appropriate frequency. Market time always includes a prepared visit plan that uses anecdotal, VIP, or syndicated data, visits to a defined list of Core Accounts, time spent with distributor reps in work-with settings, and consumer interactions (events, tastings, etc). The Brewery Sales & Marketing Representative is always 100% prepared to sell at all times with samples and support materials. Specific activities include:
    • New Business: Sells in new distribution to all on- and off-premise accounts.
    • Velocity: Sells in volume-enhancing signage and programs to accounts and merchandises products where legal.
    • Education: Educates distributors, retailers, and consumers in the territory on all general brewery and brand knowledge via distributor sales meeting presentations, ride with responsibilities, retail staff educations, consumer tastings and events.
    • Quality: physically inspects all products in all settings for freshness and ensures all brewery collateral in the market match brewery Style Guide standards.
    • Communication: Writes brief market visit recap emails to distributors and Regional Manager weekly that list achievements and needed follow-up help. Weekly schedule sent to Regional Manager only.
    • Relationships: Develops and maintains strong relationships with distributor and retailers.
    • Market Ethics: Acts professionally at all times, is responsible with alcohol, and avoids unsavory sales tactics.
    • Special Projects: Executes Quarterly Focus, specific strategic programs, and requested implementations by the Regional Sales Manager to include surveys (pricing, distribution, execution, and quality), crew drives, etc.
  • Core Deliverables:
  1. 90% of time (4.5 out of every 5 days each week) should be spent with accounts, distributors, or consumers.
  2. Review VIP data weekly to identify sales opportunities.
  3. Make 25 or more sales calls per week.
  4. Top Accounts are physically seen monthly.
  5. Execute 4+ minimum distributor ride withs per month with a professional follow-up email.
  6. Deliver sales recaps to distributors weekly by start of business each Monday.
  7. Deliver, by noon on Mondays via email, any market visit recaps and weekly schedule to Territory Manager.
  8. Deliver expense reports on time, follow expense guidelines, and stay under budgeted expense spending.

Position Requirements

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of The Brooklyn Brewery product line and all industry dynamics and players in the territory.
  • Proficient verbal, written, and group communication skills.
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Cicerone Level 1 certification (within 3 months of hire date)

HR ASSISTANT (BROOKLYN, NYC)

The Brooklyn Brewery is seeking a Human Resources Assistant. The position is FLSA non-exempt, hourly, and reports to the Human Resources Manager. The HR Assistant will provide support to the Human Resources Manager in developing, executing and managing all HR programs. The HR Assistant will ensure that all forms, transactions and activities are handled in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with established procedures. The HR Assistant will research and resolve employee inquiries and bring issues to a timely resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Event Ambassador Program management: onboard new hires, maintain online timekeeping portal, update and maintain personnel tracker, train new EAs and managers on timekeeping system, troubleshoot login issues
  • Assist with the new hire onboarding process: Schedule calls with new hires to go over company  benefits, assist with new hire paperwork and field general new hire questions, create new employee personnel files, complete and maintain I-9 forms
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned: maintain and conduct with routine personnel file audits, assist with open enrollment for 401K, medical and dental, etc., and assist with ad-hoc projects
  • Payroll assistance: collect and compile hours worked for payroll processing, review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets
  • Assist with the employee off-boarding process

Primary duties will be to execute Brooklyn Brewery's marketing program in order to raise the brand profile.

After training at Brooklyn Brewery, New York, the Brand Ambassador will be called upon to forge relationships & create programming to help position Brooklyn Brewery as the premier American craft beer in the UK. The right candidate will already be a member of the artisanal food and drink scene with existing relationships that can help position the Brooklyn Brewery brand.

The job requires an outgoing personality that relishes customer interaction and has a high appreciation for beer and Brooklyn. Brand appreciation extends beyond Brooklyn beers to the leading culture coming out of the borough of Brooklyn that is internationally recognized for its unique character and influence. An affinity for good food, music, art and pop culture is a must.

EVENT AMBASSADOR (MULTIPLE TERRITORIES)

The Brooklyn Brewery is seeking an affable, outgoing beer enthusiast to represent our brand at a variety of events in and around multiple beer-centric regions worldwide. This part-time job is responsible for executing a variety of promotional events in bars, restaurants and stores. Promoting Brooklyn Brewery as a spokesperson for our beers and forging relationships on The Brewery's behalf are all primary obligations.

The right candidate will already be a member of the nightlife scene of their home market, with existing relationships that can help position the Brooklyn brand. A familiarity with food trends, contemporary music, film, comedy, and local culture are big plusses.

Responsibilities include:

Coordination between sales reps, venue, and headquarters
Event set-up and tear-down
Capturing and processing newsletter signups
Social media
Engaging with consumers in an easy and fun manner in order to raise brand awareness
Creating new contacts

Event Ambassadors will represent The Brewery on average four times a month.
