Marketing Internship

Brooklyn Brewery is seeking an intern for The Marketing Unit. The Marketing Unit handles all of Brooklyn Brewery’s advertising, events, web and public relations activities. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to each of these areas. This is a very hands-on position that demands consistency and dedication.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in college, have knowledge and appreciation of craft beer & food and have a firm grasp on popular culture & social media. Good media writing skills are a must. Top candidates will be able to demonstrate a hard work ethic, a proven passion for Brooklyn and a desire to learn. 

DETAILS
Compensation: $10/hour in addition to course credit
Hours: 3-4 times/week, totaling 20 hours weekly
Duration: 2014 Summer Semester
Location: The Brewery is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Requirements: must be at least 21 years old

Duties include but are not limited to assisting in the following areas:

+ Press & archival organization
+ Research project assistance
+ General office & shipping tasks
+ Assistance with events and evening promotions

CELLARMEN

Brooklyn Brewery in Brooklyn, NY is looking for 2 dedicated cellarmen/brewers to add to our cellaring team.

This is a full-time position encompassing all areas of cellaring operations, including dry-hopping, transfers/filtration, finishing, and CIP, with some malt handling and packaging duties.


Qualified candidates will have AT LEAST ONE (1) OF CELLARING OR BREWING EXPERIENCE WORKING AT A PRODUCTION BREWERY PACKAGING MORE THAN 7,500 BBL PER YEAR.  Must be able to meet the physical challenges of cellaring work, including the ability to lift 50-60 lbs multiple times during the day, drive a forklift, grip and manipulate tri-clamps, hoses, valves, etc. on a regular basis, work safely within tight spaces and with various cleaning/sterilization chemicals.  A strong mechanical aptitude is a major plus.  Centrifuge experience is a plus but not necessary.  The person filling this position must be willing to work flexible schedules, which will include working some late nights and overnight shifts.  Compensation, with salary commensurate with experience, includes health and dental insurance, paid vacation and 401K with employer match.

Greenmarket Sales Representative

Greenmarket is a program of GrowNYC, formerly Council on the Environment of NYC (http://www.grownyc.org).  Greenmarket's mission is to promote regional agriculture and ensure a continuing supply of fresh local produce for New Yorkers. Greenmarket supports farmers and preserves farmland for the future by providing regional, small family farmers with opportunities to sell their fruits, vegetables and other farm products to New Yorkers.

The Brooklyn Brewery brews flavorful beers that enrich the life, tradition and culture of the communities it serves. The Brewery is open to the public Monday-Thursday from 5-7pm for reservation-only Small Batch tours, Friday evening for Happy Hour, and Saturdays and Sundays for Tours and Tastings. This position requires very good communication skills and the ability speak on behalf of Greenmarket and Brooklyn Brewery to a variety of customers. We are searching for an outgoing and responsible person with some sales experience.

Responsibilities

Below is a list of some, but not all, of a Greenmarket Wheat Sales Representative’s duties:

  • Represent Brooklyn Brewery at Union Square Wednesday (9:30am – 6:30pm) and Grand Army Plaza Saturday (7:30am – 4:30pm) and special events (Night Markets).
  • Set-up tent and display.
  • Promote and sell Greenmarket Wheat.
  • Fill out a detailed Sales Ledger daily and send to Brooklyn Brewery and Greenmarket staff.
  • Record beginning and end of day inventory.
  • Coordinate storage with Union Square Greenmarket staff.
  • Arrange deliveries of product and marketing materials with Brooklyn Brewery.
  • Liaise with GrowNYC staff about promotions and progress of beer sales.
  • Responsible for handling money and making deposits.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

●    Work outdoors, standing and walking for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours in a day), sometimes in extreme temperatures.

●    Transport heavy/bulky items – up to 40 lbs.

●     Work in a potentially noisy environment.
