We’ll warn you in advance-this wine vs. beer battle is already sold out. However, the good folks putting together Australia’s Good Beer Week put such fire what could have been an ordinary event description that we had to share it with you:
What do you do when the world’s leading expert on beer and food matching announces he’s coming to your festival? You invite him to show off his talents at the country’s most iconic restaurant, of course. In the ultimate beer vs wine battle, Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster and acclaimed author Garrett Oliver will attempt to prove beer can best wine over five courses at Melbourne’s spectacular Vue de Monde. His motto is “In Vino Victimus” – “In Wine Are My Victims”. To date, he has never lost… The brave soul taking up the gauntlet for wine and attempting to inflict a first defeat is Martin Spedding, owner of five star Mornington Peninsula winery Ten Minutes By Tractor and a passionate advocate for Australian wine. Let battle commence!
As we said, the event is sold out. Just in case, keep in mind that the throwdown will take place on Sunday, May 18 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. If you were lucky enough to score tickets, we salute you as you help Garrett continue to Defend Beer.
