V’Soske Architectural Rugs Exhibition Opening @ Center for Architecture

Brooklyn Lager will be featured at the opening of the V’Soske Architectural Rugs exhibition taking place from 6-8 pm on Sunday, May 20. Below is a synopsis of the exhibit from the Center for Architecture:

“From its inception in 1924, V’Soske has been committed to the understanding that the rug is a vital component of space and an extension of the architects’ design philosophy. By the mid 1970s, architecture was in a period of transition as the post-war promise of a new Utopia led to build environments that abandoned context and history. Roger McDonald and Ellen Hertzmark, V’Soske’s Directors of Design and Marketing recognized this ideological transition and embarked on creating a collaborative collection of rugs with the leading and emerging architects from 1979-1993. Each handmade rug became the architects’ philosophical canvas and provided the opportunity to innovate and explore new methods of fabrication.

Exhibiting architects in V’Soske Rugs by Architects: Architecture in Transition, 1979-1993 will reflect on their interest and exploration of design through the V’Soske collaboration during the space and time of this period. Reception to follow.”
