Last night, Brooklyn Brewery hosted “Brewers For Brewers”, a benefit for Kiuchi Brewery in Japan. “Brewers For Brewers” raised over $12,000 for Kiuchi Brewery to use as it sees fit in their community.
Brewers included Sixpoint, Victory, Lagunitas, Shmaltz, Heartland, Empire, Kelso, and the New York City Homebrewers Guild. Food was provided by The Meat Hook, Brooklyn Kitchen, Tanuki Tavern, SlantShack Jerky, Jimmy’s No. 43, and the Waterfront Ale House. Silent auction prizes were donated by the participants as well as from Civilization of Beer, Rattle N Hum, and Lucky Dog. Many thanks to all the vendors and attendees! We couldn’t have done it without you.

It’s time to stop reading about the disaster in Japan and to start doing something about it. Join us and the local brewing community at “Brewers For Brewers”, a benefit event for the Kiuchi Brewery in Japan. Kiuchi brews Hitachino, and while their brewery hasn’t experienced too much damage, they are using their working bottling lines to bottle water, and are feeding as many people as they can in their restaurant. The Brooklyn Lager, Local 1, Main Engine Start and the rest of our lineup will be on tap but we’ll also be serving selections from Empire Brewing Co., Heartland Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing Co., Sixpoint Craft Ales, Kelso of Brooklyn, Victory Brewing Co., and Coney Island Brewing. Food will be provided by The Brooklyn Kitchen & The Meat Hook, Jimmy’s No. 43, Tanuki Tavern, and Waterfront Ale House.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here. All proceeds will go directly to Kiuchi’s efforts to support their fellow sake and artisanal beer breweries in Ibaraki Prefecture.
