\---Dean Cercone is an experimental musician and visual artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, currently residing in Brooklyn.
Cercone’s work encompasses sculpture, mixed-media installations, digital art, video art, and sound installation. His practice is centered around drawing and especially distinctive lines, which he uses throughout his compositions to render figures, abstractions, and words. Many of his works feature figures that combine an illustrative quality with chaotic and abstract linework. These subjects are often stand-ins for himself in compositions that explore emotional and deeply personal memories.
Compositions range in size from wall-length banners to illustrations on napkins and other easily degradable materials. The artist has created a number of limited edition t-shirts and zines that feature his artwork. To create his paintings, Cercone uses spray paint, ash taken from campfires, and salvaged materials like shellac alongside oil paints and charcoal. In addition to his visual arts practice, Cercone performs and records music under his own name.
