Our History
The Stonewall Inn is the birthplace of Pride. Back in 2017, we joined forces to create a beer with a purpose: supporting their nonprofit, SIGBI, and empowering queer activists across the United States. The inception of The Stonewall Inn IPA was only the beginning of our work together, which has since spanned over years and countries – we’re now active in Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
What started as beer has grown into a lasting partnership with The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative to support their mission, highlight international grassroots activists with our Create Space campaign, and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in Brooklyn Brewery markets all around the world. Meet Our SIGBI Safe Space Partners
Our friends at Berberè in Italy are committed to becoming the country’s first official SIGBI-Certified Safe Space. With the help of a local organization Comunicattive, they’ve taken steps toward ensuring their commitment is meaningful. They’ve updated their menus with gender-neutral language, and created gender-free icons for their bathroom signage – just two of their efforts to make their pizzerias inclusive environments for all patrons and employees, regardless of their identity.
Tune in as SIGBI’s Stacy Lentz and Kurt Kelly chat with Salvatore Aloe from Berberè about the history of The Stonewall Inn and how its legacy can be honored worldwide.
